The Kona Seaside Hotel is on the outdated/older side, however, vistors to Hawaii would have a hard time finding decent accomodations for less. The hotel has 225 guest rooms, offered in standard, superior, and deluxe sizes. Wifi is available (some fees may apply) and there are outdoor swimming pools (although sources say that the pool closes early in the pm). The rooms have a minifridge, a private balcony, a remote-control color tv, a direct-dial phone, a clock radio, and a ceiling fan. A number of rooms also have a beautiful ocean view. The oceanview tower rooms have the best views. Laundry facilities are available for guests to use at the hotel. Many quests have described the hotel as clean, but not “fancy.” The AC units in the rooms have been reviewed as somewhat loud when on. Currently, parking is $5-$10 per day at the hotel, but visitors can use free public parking around the corner. Guests can receive discount coupons for the hotels’s 2 restaurants, Tanti’s Restaurant and Paleo’s Bar and Grill, at the front desk.
Native Richard Kimi founded Seaside Hotel group in 1956 after serving in World War II. The Kona Seaside Hotel was the second hotel in the group built. It is located at 75-5646 Palani Road, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, 96740. There are also Seaside Hotels in Hilo and Maui.
While staying at The Kona Seaside Hotel, one should try Splashers Grill, a favorite, family-friendly restaurant. It offers American diner-type food, a tiki bar, and pretty views of the ocean. The restaurant is also family-owned, has live music later in the day, is open on holidays, and offers breakfast from 7am to 10 am.
